Spring is officially here Fort Wayne and with the first day of Spring comes…. snow? Luckily it was only a dusting. Nothing we can’t handle, right? Another spring event that’s a little more welcoming than snow, especially for those still in school, is Spring Break. Planning a staycation this year? Great! There are plenty of awesome things to do right here in Fort Wayne. Here’s a guide to some of the great things our fine city has to offer this spring break:

1. Fort Wayne Parks

Fort Wayne is home to 86 parks, which sits on over 2,800 acres. At any of the Fort Wayne Parks, not only is there always something to do, but it’s also absolutely FREE! From disc golfing at Swinney Park to fishing at Franke Park there is always adventure to be had at any of the Fort Wayne parks!

Along with all the amazing parks Fort Wayne has to offer, you’ll also be sure to have a great time on the Rivergreenway — one of Fort Wayne’s many trails. The Rivergreenway consists of over 25 miles of paved trails along the banks of the St. Joseph, St. Marys, and Maumee Rivers. Whether you enjoy biking, jogging or even skating, the Rivergreenway is sure to offer beautiful scenery the entire way.

2. Science Central

If you’ve never been to Science Central, you are certainly missing out on one of the coolest experiences that Fort Wayne has to offer. With dozens of exciting hands on exhibits, including a high rail bicycle, moon gravity simulator, a high-speed slide and more, Science Central is sure to be a fun-filled day!

Not only does Science Central have plenty of fun activities to keep you busy all day, this year, they’ve also added a Spring Break Camp! Children, age 5-11, can take advantage of some great, super-fun classes.

3. Botanical Conservatory

Along with the beautiful scenery that can be seen at the Botanical Conservatory, this Spring the Conservatory has invited artist Sayaka Ganz to decorate the gardens with a beautiful exhibit, made up entirely of recycled materials. This exhibit, entitled “Changing Tides,” will challenge your views on recycling and art.

Another great event going on around Spring break at the Botanical Conservatory is Easter in the Garden. Bring the kids out for an exciting day of games, snacks, and crafts. Don’t forget to bring the camera because the Easter Bunny will even be making an appearance!

4. Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo

Another great event going on this Spring Break is Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo’s very own Spring Break Zoo Camp. Don’t miss out on this awesome opportunity to spend the day going behind the scenes with some of your favorite zoo animals!

5. Day Trips

With Fort Wayne’s great location, we’re only a few hours from other great destinations such as Indianapolis, Chicago, Columbus, Ann Arbor, with many more hot spots in between! Take a day trip and go shopping, check out some museums, or shows
