How to Spruce up Your Apartment for the Holidays

“It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Everywhere you look…” Except for your apartment, right? You still have a few weeks left before Christmas. You can add some Christmas cheer to your apartment without compromising space.

Christmas Tree

First and foremost, you’ll certainly need a place for Santa to leave a few presents on Christmas morning! And, what’s Christmas without a  Christmas Tree! (Remember, real trees are not allowed at Montrose Square Apartments.) Keep in mind that bigger is not always better. If space is an issue, don’t be afraid to downsize to a tabletop, a DIY decoration, or a tree or a Christmas Tree Charlie Brown would be proud of.

Lights

Just because you live in an apartment doesn’t mean you can enjoy some icicle lights. Christmas lights are an amazingly simple way to immediately transform your apartment into a winter wonderland. String up some beautiful lights in the living room, dining room, front porch, or even bedroom!

PRO TIP: When it comes to apartment living, the best way to hang Christmas lights is utilizing Command Strips. This way you don’t have to nail or screw anything into your walls, making sure you get ALL of your deposit back.

Ornaments

Hang some ornaments from your windowsills, below your cabinets, or really anywhere you can think of! Make a centerpiece with ornaments by placing red and green ornaments in a decorative bowl. This is a super inexpensive way to instantly bring in holiday cheer!

Leg Lamp

Ahhh, the classic leg lamp – a holiday favorite for many families. This is certainly the decoration you need to kick your décor up a notch! But be sure to find a safe place where it won’t get knocked over. It’s very FRA-GEE-LAY of course!

The Scent of the Holiday

So, the decorations look great and it’s really starting to look like Christmas. Well, you’re not quite done yet. The perfect holiday scene can’t be complete without a hint of Christmas in the air. What’s Christmas without the scent of pine, the smell of Christmas cookies, or a hint of cinnamon? The perfect holiday smell can be just what you need to take your holiday décor to the next level! Reed diffusers are a safe, flame-free alternative to candles to add a smell of Christmas to the air.

After following a few of these tips, your apartment will be merry and bright in no time at all! From all of us at Montrose Square Apartments, have a very Merry Christmas!
