There are many upsides to living the good life at Montrose Square Apartments in Fort Wayne, IN. As the weather finally starts to get better this spring (and it will,) home owners will begin spending their Saturdays in their yards, raking, mowing, and planting spring flowers. You, on the other hand, will be free to spend a nice spring weekend with your family, and from now through Memorial Day in May, there are plenty of great family activities you can enjoy.
Now,you might not think of St. Patrick’s Day (March 17) as a family holiday. It has become one, however, thanks to the Fort Wayne Firefighters Annual Go Green Fest.
The fun starts at 9:30 on Saturday morning, March 15 with the (kilts optional) 5K Kilt Race through downtown Fort Wayne. The race starts at the corner of Superior and Calhoun streets, and all are welcome to walk or run all or part of the race.
The action then moves to the Old Well’s Street Bridge at 11am for the annual river greening. I think the St. Mary’s already looks a bit green, but the fire fighters will dye it even greener with an eco friendly dye that’s certainly no worse than anything else that’s in the river now.
Then, walk over the bridge and enjoy the Strongman Competition from 9:30am to 3pm, Watch strong people push, pull, and lift heavy things like water filled kegs, tires, and more.
If watching all that wears you out, then go party on the Wells Street Corridor with music, food, Lucky the Leprechaun, eating contests, a kid’s fun zone and gold coin drop.
Now, once evening arrives it’s adults only with live music and cold drinks on Wells Street.
Apartment living means spending more time with your family, so get out and enjoy Go Green Fest 2014 on Saturday, March 15 in Fort Wayne. And check back here to the Montrose Square blog for updates to more family friendly spring activities.
