What to Do on Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day weekend, the unofficial start of Summer and the perfect time to get out and enjoy all that Fort Wayne has to offer. There’s plenty to do around town without spending a lot of money. Need some help planning your weekend? Check out these ideas for a fun-filled weekend!

Saturday:

Last Saturdays Downtown

During Last Saturday, hop on a free trolly and explore downtown Fort Wayne and everything it has to offer. Shop at the many boutiques, enjoy discounted admission to museums and the conservatory, hit the Farmer’s Market, then refuel at one of the great eateries.

Free Movie

After a day of exploring downtown, head over to Sweets so Geek on North Anthony Blvd for a free outdoor showing of Guardians of the Galaxy. The movie will start 15-30 minutes after sundown but get there at 8 for plenty of great activities and contests.

Sunday:

A Day at the Park

Pack a picnic and head to Shoaff Park, within walking distance of Montrose Square Apartments, for a day of fun. Explore the over 3 miles of trails, play golf or frisbee golf, let the kids cool off in the Splash Pad or enjoy the playground.

Monday:

Memorial Day Parade

Take time to remember what Memorial Day is all about by honoring those who died in active service. The Allen County Council of Veterans will be holding their annual Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 30. The parade begins at 11:00 am at Northside High School and will follow Parnell Avenue to the Memorial Coliseum.

Whatever you do this holiday weekend, we hope it’s a great one!
