Well, as hard as it is to believe, 2016 is coming to a close! Fortunately, one of the best things about Fort Wayne is all of the great things going on around town this time of year! Each December, downtown Fort Wayne is transformed into a beautiful winter wonderland of lights, snow, trees, and more! Montrose Square Apartments is back with another helpful guide to just a few of the many great events happening this month around Fort Wayne.

For the Family

Dollar Night at the Botanical Conservatory

December 1, come on out to the Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory for $1 Night! Both children and adults can enjoy $1 admission all night. If you’ve never been to the Conservatory, now is the time to go! Bring the whole family out to see some of the best Holiday exhibits, including the Garden in Lights, Twelve Days of Christmas, and more! Fantasy of Lights at Franke Park

Don’t miss this opportunity to see Fort Wayne’s largest Holiday light display! This 1.5-mile route features over 70 extra-large animated light displays! Each year, Franke Park sees more than 50,000 visitors! Fantasy of Lights will be taking place every night in December!

Science Central’s Countdown to Noon

This New Year’s Eve, bring the kids out to Science Central for a super fun, kid-friendly celebration of the new year! Along with all the awesome exhibits that Science Central has to offer, there will also be a soda toast, a balloon drop, festive crafts and more! Come ring in the new year at Science Central!

Christmas on the Farm

Salomon Farm Park is one of Fort Wayne’s greatest park experiences. December 3, come on out to the farm for live music, horse-drawn wagon rides, crafts, and plenty of awesome vendors in the barn.

Indoor Farmer’s Market

It might be a bit too cold to go outside, but it’s never too cold for a farmer’s market! Every Saturday from 9-1, come check out Fort Wayne’s only weekly indoor farmer’s market. Located in the Lincoln Financial Event Center (just off right field at Parkview Field.) There will be plenty of great fresh fruits, vegetables, baked goods and more – all from local vendors!

Great Train Show

December 3 and 4, the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum is excited to host the Great Train Show! This is an amazing two-day show dedicated to model train enthusiasts of all ages! The Great Train Show will feature awesome things like door prizes, free workshops, a riding train, and hundreds of great vendors!

Santa Train

The Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society will be hosting their annual Santa Train! This yearly tradition allows you to join Santa for a train ride on a real vintage diesel locomotive train! There will also be food, refreshments, entertainment, and pictures with Santa!

Sesame Street Live! “Make a New Friend”

December 13, come on out to the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum and see Sesame Street come to life! Join your friends Elmo, Grover, Big Bird, and the whole gang for a night of music, dancing, and fun!

Animal Enrichment Day at Black Pine Sanctuary

The Black Pine Animal Sanctuary in Albion is an amazing organization that helps provide permanent refuge to nearly 100 displaced exotic animals, including leopards, bears, tigers, primates, wolves, and many more! Saturday, December 17, come on out to the Black Pine Animal Sanctuary for Animal Enrichment Day and see the animals celebrate Christmas a week early! Each of the animals will be getting Christmas toys and treats!

Headwaters Park Ice Skating Rink

Each winter, thousands of people come out to enjoy ice skating at Headwaters Park, making it a favorite holiday tradition for lots of Fort Wayne families. Along with skating, you can also enjoy hot chocolate and some great snacks! Bring the whole family out for a fun day on the ice!

Fort Wayne Komets vs. Missouri Mavericks

If you haven’t been to a Komets Hockey game, you’re missing out on one of the best experiences Fort Wayne has to offer. An evening with the Komets has much more to offer than just hockey. Fort Wayne Ballet: The Nutcracker

Straight No Chaser: I’ll Have Another…World Tour

Come celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Straight No Chaser! December 13, the beloved a Capella group will be visiting the Embassy Theatre on their 20th Anniversary Tour. Straight No Chaser formed in 1996 at Indiana University in Bloomington. Don’t miss this awesome chance to see them perform on their home turf!

The Fort Wayne Phil Presents: Holiday Pops

The Fort Wayne Philharmonic Chorus will be swinging by the Embassy Theatre to deliver Holiday Pops, a night full of both traditional and contemporary holiday favorites!
