Why can’t Charcoal or Gas Grills be used at Montrose Square Apartments?

Spring’s here and that means cookouts! But, why won’t Montrose Square Apartments allow me use a charcoal or gas grill on my patio?

Because, it’s against state law. According to the  Indiana Fire Code, Section 307.5:

“Charcoal burners and other open-flame cooking devices shall not be operated on combustible balconies or within 10 feet (3048 mm) of combustible construction.”

However, Indiana Law, and your Montrose Square Apartments lease, do allow you to cook outside using an electric grill.  These units look a lot like charcoal grills, and allow you to cook outside all summer long.

Here are a few outdoor electric grill options:

If you really want to have a cookout with a charcoal grill,  reserve a pavilion at Shoaf Park, right across the street from Montrose Square Apartments.  You can reserve a pavilion on-line by clicking here.

Have a safe and happy summer!
